DVD-R Blank Media
A DVD-R is a disc that can only be written on once. It cannot be rewritten or changed. Once you burned onto a DVD-R disc you might as well say that your work in froze on there. A DVD-R disc can be both single and double sided. The single sided disc usually stores storage capacity of 4.71 GB. The double disc can hold up to about 8.75GB. Because of the change in technology today DVDR discs are easier to find and become much cheaper.
There are two types of DVDR disc. There is the DVDR disc that is used for general using and the DVDR disc that is used for authoring. If you’re the type of person who have a recordable DVD drive then you would use the DVDR for general using. The DVDR that is used for authoring are usually used on professional burner. Those are usually a little more expensive. Both types of these discs are able to be read in a DVD drive.
Just like all disc DVDR disc are read by a laser and have to be cared for the same. So that you don’t have to worry about them getting scratches or fingerprints. A DVD+R are almost the same as DVD-R. Just like the DVD-R the DVD+R is only allowed to be written on once. Another difference is they use different type of system that tracks the speed. The DVD-R uses LPP (Land Pre Pit) which is better at tracking high speeds and more accurate. The DVD+R use ADIP (ADdress in Pregroove) which is a little less slower at tracking the speed and is not as accurate. Today they don’t really make a big deal of the dash or the plus. Today the DVD writers can read and record using both the formats.
